The short version
Forward stores your workout data on your device. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data.
What the app stores
Your exercises, workouts, sets, personal records, body-weight entries, and preferences are saved in a local database on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Apple Health
If you turn on “Sync to Apple Health”, Forward writes a workout record (activity type, start and end time) to Apple Health when you finish a session. Forward never reads data from Apple Health, and Health data is governed by Apple's privacy protections. You can revoke access anytime in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Health.
Notifications and alarms
The rest timer's Live Activity and optional rest alarm run entirely on your device through Apple's system frameworks. No notification content leaves your phone.
CSV import
Workout files you import from other apps are processed on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
iCloud and backups
This version does not sync your workouts to iCloud. They are stored only on this iPhone. If you keep iPhone Backup switched on, your data is included in that backup and is restored when you set up a new phone. If cloud sync ships in a future version, it will use your personal iCloud database, readable only by you, and this policy will be updated first.
Purchases
Forward is currently free and contains no third-party SDKs. If paid features are ever added, purchases would be handled by Apple and this policy will be updated first.
